Value Of Life In My Little Rocky Stories

What is value? This question usually has dollars and cents attached to it. Value is, according to many, something of worth. However, there is another question with just as simple of an answer: What does value mean to us? As a child, I had always known what value was, but I had never fully grasped the true meaning until one night when my father told me one of the most memorable Little Rocky stories that I have ever heard. That night was the very moment when I finally understood what value really meant. Growing up, my daddy used to tell me all kinds of stories. Sometimes they would be a rhyme that he just came up with off the top of his mind, or just a simple collaboration of made up characters that would come to life in my little head. Although he always told great stories, my favorite ones were called Little Rocky stories. These were short stories about a little boy named Rocky, who would always seem to be in need of learning a lesson. With the creative mind of a six year old, I brought Rocky to life in my head. I realized, even though I was very young, what value was. Value is not in the things you have, but the way that you look at things, everyone’s perspective of value is different, depending on who or what you are referring to. Value is not just monetary worth. It is a person's principles or standards of behavior; one's judgment of what is important in life. Not only was I taught about value that night, but also being humble. I am fortunate enough to have a lot of things that are more wants than needs, and that night I realized how much I take for granted and how truly blessed I am.
