The value of human life
What is the value of human life? “To deny people their human rights is to challenge their very humanity” (Nelson Mandela). All people have rights to what they do in life and the choices they make. Value cannot be assigned to an individual human life because every person is unique in their own way, all people are treated with the same amount of respect and fairness, and it doesn’t matter where you come from or what your background is all people are equal. Source A- Every life should be treated the same because it doesn’t matter who you are or where you come from all people can make a difference. In “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell General Zaroff is a strong powerful hunter that puts value on others lives.

Some He makes kings, some beggars. Me He made a hunter. My hand was made for the trigger, my father said. He was a very rich man with a quarter of a million acres in the Crimea, and he was an ardent sportsman” (Source C). Zaroff believes he has power over Rainsford another hunter. Just because his General Zaroff’s father was rich man he thinks he deserves the same. General Zaroff thinks that life is for the strong and the weak should praise the more powerful people. Every person is made their own way and even if you aren’t as rich as other people it doesn’t determine your value. In addition Zaroff says “I refuse to believe that so modern and civilized a young man as you seem to be harbors romantic ideas about the value of human life, I’ll wager you’ll forget your notions when you go hunting with me” (Source C). Zaroff judges Rainsford just based on his appearance and for the little time he has met him about his view on the value of human life. Zaroff should not judge him and hasn’t given him a chance to show his skills and what kind of person he is. Rainsford says “Thank you, I’m a hunter, not a murder” (Source C). But Rainsford still appreciates himself for who he is. Furthermore Ivan is a solider just like Zaroff. “Ivan is an incredibly strong …show more content…
The law is arguing that people who have better jobs should earn more money and “that compensation for death should be directly related to financial circumstances of each victim” (Source E). It doesn’t matter how much money you make or what your job is all lives should be treated equal and fair. “Mr. Feinberg , my husband was a fireman and died a hero at the World Trade Center. Why are you giving me less money than the banker who represented Enron? Why are you demeaning the memory of my husband?’’ (Source E). The husband’s wife should receive the same amount of financial aid as others because her husband was a hero fighting for people’s lives. It’s about how we handle the hard times and struggles that come at us to make us a better person. To create who we are and the special values each person has. Source C-Lastly in the poem “No man is an Island” by John Donne relates that every human being is unique in their own way and had something to contribute to others. People cannot get along alone and we depend on each other. All our actions depend on other people. The island shows isolation and that we need each other to survive and thrive. It relates to mankind and death. It talks about death and that we should use others death to be better prepared for ours. He mentions the bells toll which relates to the death of a person and it doesn’t matter who it is because it can affect others

In ‘The Most Dangerous Game’ by Richard Connell Rainsford is in no way a murderer. Rainsford is only capable of killing an animal. Rainsford only killed Zaroff in self defense, Rainsford also made it very clear that he thought killing another human being was inhumane, but on the other hand Rainsford had no real reason to kill General Zaroff. Rainsford did not know what Zaroff had in mind so his last resort was self defense. Rainsford must have thought that if Zaroff did not die then he would be the one to die instead.…
