A value I feel Americans deem important is Equality. This is a value so important that it is written in the Declaration of Independence, “that all Men are created equal.” Equality was so important to America that they fought for it, and it continues to be a recurring issue throughout history. Equality is an important concept and ideally having a society that treats everyone equally would be ideal. However, throughout American history this is a value that at times has been more than neglected. For example, as America fought for its own equality, slavery was being practiced. In addition to slavery, the Declaration of Independence denied women the right to participate in the political process. In short it seems ironic that American value and devalue
