Valuable Lessons Learned

Professor Dickerson, During this class, I have learned and still am learning several valuable lessons. First and of the utmost importance, you can never be too sure of your work. Next, some lessons will be progressively harder than others, and with those, no amount of reading or studying will prepare you completely. Also, save valuable lessons you struggle with on your desktop for easy access such as notes, tutorials, and study guides. Read these quite often even on down time and refer to them when reviewing essays. Last, there is never enough time in a day for the perfect time management no matter how skilled you think you are. You asked how I feel these lessons will help in my academic journey. One learns my various shortcomings and striving harder continually advancing these skills. Next, connect with classmates asking for their opinions where there are different judgment calls by myself and proofers. Also, put into practice writing better …show more content…
Well, we can say first of all in this class I have learned an abundance of important aspects about myself, in which I had never realized. Expecting nothing less of myself than to give 110% to everything in life, it's imperative to have a great mentality. Emotionally, this is necessary to be on your A-game. To do this, I will strive to stop letting the tiniest or largest of obstacles bring me down. To be less critical of, believe and trust in myself. Stop second guessing my decisions, moreover not seeking or thinking I need others approval. Push harder when it is time to and when it isn't, just to relax and do nothing from time to time. Learn just to be who I am; this alone will lessen the stress in life, making for a highly successful outcome. By stating that, finally rearranging my schedule and streamlining time management will offer a better education, an abundance of exciting times for my son and I, and to reconnect with friends, IE to live

In comparing Pappas and Tolisano’s taxonomies, Tolisano’s reflection of taxonomies has more connection to me in terms of my learning process and self-development in this class. As we can see, the bottom of the pyramid (the foundation), the very base consists of a big block structure and it gets little as it reaches the top. Similarly, my learning process in this class started to have a big, scattered, overwhelming pieces of ideas, then as the class progress, those ideas became smaller yet unified. When this class started, I am at the “what did I do” scale. It is the bottom but the very foundation of all the scales.…

    A Lesson Relearned

Bob Sipchen’s “A Lesson Relearned: High Tech or No Tech, It's All About the Teacher” is a largely unsuccessful attempt to mediate the debate between opposing sides on the issues of technology in the classroom. Granted, Sipchen does an excellent job articulating the deftness demonstrated by a kindergarten teacher in Alaska whom he witnessed teaching her class Russian using only clay puppets. He even observes in detail the gymnastics, skill, and applied theory she employed to present and review the material by praising the stronger links in her class for learning it and using their mastery to reinforce the developing skills of the weaker ones. While acknowledging that teachers need “good tools,” Sipchen ultimately seems unaware that technology—low-grade…

Three most significant lessons that I learned are (1). To be an advocate for young children and family in order to create quality program in your community. (2) To have passion from one another is positive behavior for early childcare professionals; we have to respect one another in order to get along. (3)As an early childhood educator, we should not stereotype other cultures; however, we should welcome diversity in a positive environment. As all of these are significant to diversity, equity and social justice, it has to be implemented to support children and families.…

Stephen Colbert once said, “Find the courage to decide for yourself what is right and what is wrong, and then expect as much of the world around you. Try to make the world good according to your standards.” (Colbert) This sums up perfectly what any college student learns in their first semester - if they take University Seminar with Megan Swanson. I have absorbed plenty of information throughout this first semester, and I feel that I am adequately prepared to face these next years of my life.…

After completing the assignments for this course, the way I approach writing a paper has greatly changed from the methods I learned in high school. I have come to find that writing for a college course requires a person to be more thorough in their preparation to a complete a paper than the approach taken in high school. From the first to third paper there was a noticeable change in my writing style and process. The way I communicate in my papers and the sources I used changed due to trial and error while completing these three major assignments. My idea of peer review was changed as well as I saw how it was structured in this class, and saw the positive affect it had on my paper when properly utilized.…

    1. Time Management - I have been terrible at time management my whole life, ever since I can remember. One of the reasons I believe that I am bad at time management is that I tend to procrastinate too much, especially when it comes to school and school work such as studying and doing homework. I tend to just watch videos such as Netflix or Youtube, or play video games to pass the time so that I don’t have to do or think about my responsibilities of school or work and because of that, the time I have to do other stuff is limited and not as much as I would like. The main way I plan to combat this problem is keep to a strict schedule and keep a planer to know what I need to get done at a specific time on any given day.…

English 1303 was filled with many activities consisting of the writer 's toolbox, vocabulary logs, different rhetorical essays, timed writings, presentations, and, much more. I vividly remember the assignment that was introduced to us as the “cookie rubric.” Our assignment was to create a rubric based off the characteristics, texture, appearance, taste, and smell of cookie. It was honestly one of the most constructive assignments I have done, due to the fact that I had to be so precise with each characteristic. I favored this piece of work, because I had a sense of what my Professor has to do in order to construct a rubric for her students.…

I feel that I was able to accomplish this because of my hard work and great feedback that I have received from my classmates. My other important goal I had for myself was to fix all of my grammar errors which have haunted me throughout my entire educational career. I am most certain that I accomplished this goal mostly because of the help of my handbook without it I might have still been lost. I mostly feel proud of how well I did in my narrative essay because that was a first for me and was also the one that stressed me out the most. After completing it I found that it was really not that difficult the basic thing is just to tell a story about yourself and adding sources to provide backup.…
