I was living with my three siblings and my mother. My father wasn’t in the picture because he was working hard in “el norte” (The North). He was working many hours so he would have enough to send us and also to have some for himself. He was providing us shelter, food , clothes and many things but from so many miles away. My mother would stay home to take care of us because it was so many of us and she was alone. She also worked very hard to make us smile and never suffer from anything since suffer in the city was seen everywhere. We all dearly missed my father but we knew it was for the best. He would come every 6 months but sometimes he would come every month. He tried to visit us as many times as possible. Everytime my dad would visit he would be very happy but this time he seemed even more happy. He had the biggest smile on his face and a sparkle on his eyes. He had the biggest and the best news. He said that he was going to bring us with him to the United States. I wasn’t expecting that but that was the best day of my life because of the amazing news he had just gave us. Everybody was excited and very happy to know we were all leaving with my dad. Finally after 7 years of living this way , we are going to have a different life and also a better one.
