Valley Forge
“These are the times that try men’s souls.” (Paine) It is the spring of 1778, and things aren’t looking too bright here at Valley Forge. We have lost a lot of men due to sickness and the harsh, frozen elements, but our biggest problem is that the soldiers who were suppose to be fighting for our country are just giving up and not re-enlisting. Am I going to be a part of those men? I am half starved and living in a house filled with smoke and my lungs can’t take it anymore. Wondering if I’m going to reenlist has been on the top of my mind for about a month now and I think I may have come to a conclusion. I’m going to stay. I will re-enlist because I deserve the freedom that Britain has taken away from me, I also need to fight
