Table 14.4 lists some key economic figures regarding the Valioso Mine project. The project uses a discount rate of 15% and is profitable with a discount rate up to 51% (See Figure 14.4). The discounted ROI to investors is 170%. Despite having a relatively small revenue stream, due to the small deposit of moderate grade, the capital costs are low enough to result in an NPV of $83 million. The capital costs are low due to the small production rate of the mine and the 60% subsidy of infrastructure offered by the Colombian government. The discounted payback period is 5 years, just under half the of the project life, shown in Figure 14.2. This may be an issue for investors who are looking for shorter payback periods. In Q. 57, A.5, Aquinas discusses the knowledge of angels and states that angels are only able to know what God allows them to know: “yet so that the higher angels beholding the Divine wisdom more clearly, learn more and deeper mysteries in the vision of God, which mysteries they communicate to the lower angels by enlightening them. Some of these mysteries they knew from the very beginning of their creation; others they are taught afterwards, as befits their ministrations”. This ties in really well with a few lines from Canto 28: “so rapidly do they follow their bonds, in order to resemble the point as much as they can, and they can to the degree that they are raised to see” (p. 563, lines 100-102). Angels desire to resemble God or be with Him as much as they can, but it is all dependent on God’s will.…

This was found by using the unlevered cost of equity based on data from Wackenhut.…

Finally, the committee needed to consider the length of time required to establish a new database because most committee members believed that conclusive information on customer behavior could be drawn only from a minimum of 500,000 members. Further, although they thought that an investment in such a program could be largely beneficial for Cineplex, if implemented poorly, the organization’s image and its ability to deliver customer value could suffer widespread harm. NPV “is the aggregate of all present value of the cash flows of an asset immaterial of positive or negative” while IRR “is the discount rate at which NPV = 0” (S 2015). In addition, the utilization of NPV enables companies to make financial decisions more easily as it focuses on how the investment adds and subtracts investor wealth. On the other hand, IRR is compared to the break-even point as the percentage results in a zero NPV. Unfortunately, IRR is not best suited for helping facilitate the decision-making process. One of the key differences between IRR and MIRR is what is utilized for in calculations.…
