Valerie Christy's Case Study

Valerie Christy became a mother of three when she welcomed her new baby after a problem free pregnancy.

According to Liftable, the Scottish mother brought her 7-pound, 5-ounce daughter, Ryleigh, into the world thinking she had given birth to a perfectly heathy baby girl, but just 72 hours later her terrifying nightmare began.

Christy explained:

“She was a healthy weight when she was born and nothing had shown up during my pregnancy so I didn’t think there was anything to worry about.”

Her daughter's health would suddenly take a frightening turn for the worse, baffling doctors who were trying to diagnose the newborn.

“She was breathing so fast, her chest was going up and down, and she was taken into intensive care in the early hours of

The small holes normally don't need medical treatments. That wasn't the case though for Christy's baby.

While the heart problem is common in newborns, Ryleigh's diagnosis was much more extreme. She had five holes in her heart, causing leaking blood to get pumped into he lungs, putting the infant at risk for a stroke or a heart attack.

The Mirror reports the mother was heartbroken:

“I wasn’t prepared for seeing my tiny baby lying there covered in wires and tubes. It was devastating seeing her fighting for life.”
Doctors found a way to fix the holes in heart, performing surgery on Ryleigh to repair the holes with a surprising material - Gore-Tex.

Gore-Tex is a fabric used to create products, including clothing, for weather protection. The material is described as a membrane placed between high-performance lining and outer textiles.

This time the fabric was used to patch the holes in an infant's heart. Gore-Tex has also been used for other medical procedures before, including vascular grafts, tissue reinforcement and aneurysm

They have a lawyer representing them and another ob-gyn doctor as an expertise. He stated that the Pitocin should have been stopped being administered during Nicole’s labor.…

Maryland court of appeals ruled Wednesday that a lesbian woman once married to another woman had no right to visitation or custody of a young boy her former partner gave birth to before the couple wed. According to The Daily Record of Baltimore, the Court of Special Appeals upheld an earlier decision by the Washington County Circuit Court that ruled Michelle Conover does not have parental rights over Jaxon Conover. The child was born six months prior to Michelle Conover’s marriage to his birth mother, Brittany Conover and 17 months before their divorce. Judge Robert A.
