Even though Valentine is one of the most passionate and warm-hearted characters in the book, she also has a vile, surly side that she acquired with Peter. She puts the blame on Ender because if he doesn’t try to fight, he’ll get everyone he loves killed by the enemy.

“Valentine was such a good influence on Peter. She had changed his whole attitude toward everything”(169). Before, Peter was a cold-hearted killer whose passion was slaughtering and torturing innocent creatures for amusement.
