Good morning, ladies and gentlemen, fellow graduates. First of all I would like to thank the teachers, parent volunteers, and any other person that was not mentioned that has had an impact in our years at St. Albert. Some of you may not have thought of it this way, but elementary school is where most of your year of education will come from. This year would not have been the same without them. Has been filled with so many new experiences and amazing memories, but it seems like it has also gone by so quickly. I feel as if just yesterday, we were just in grade 6 and for some of you kindergarten. Grade 8 is supposed to be the year of new beginnings, leaving for high school.

2 years ago, I left my old school and joined St. Albert. A new year with 40 new faces at a new school. Extremely scary. Over 3 years, I’ve joined so many extra-curricular activities and made so many friends. That was not expected for that girl in grade 6. I would never believe that 2 years later, I would be standing in front of you, saying a speech, trying to be the grade 8 valedictorian.
So every so often, Mr. B gives us these quote responses, and asks us to write down what we think they mean. A couple of weeks ago, we got a quote by Lucius Annaeus Seneca. It said “If one does not know to which port one is sailing, no wind is favorable.” Some people might interpret this quote differently but with this quote I see each of us as a boat.
