Vaginitis:Vaginal candidias Vaginal candidiasis is a type of vaginitis that is caused by the Candida species. It is not considered to be a sexually transmitted infection (Sobel, 2014). It is a systemic fungal infection caused by a result of decreased polymorphonuclear host defenses system (Sobel, 2014). When the vaginal environment is disturbed, normal flora in the vagina and skin resulting in fungal overgrowth (Sobel, 2014). Vaginal candidiasis is most common in females who are menstruating and less common in postmenopausal females (Sobel, 2014).
