The body transforms in many ways when you are pregnant. There is an increase in vaginal infection during the entire period. If the discharge is clean and odor free, it is caused by pregnancy hormones. It is also a sign that the vagina is healthy. But excessive discharge can be a sign of an infection. This occurs mainly when the natural balance of bacteria is affected.

This kind of infection grows with an overgrowth of bacteria living naturally in the vagina. This can be due to shift in hormones. If the BV symptoms remain then the baby would be low birthweight or born early. The doctors take a swab of the discharge from the vaginal and see under a microscope to find out about the infection.
Symptoms
• Thin greyish, white discharge
• Pain during urination
• Itching around vagina
Treatment
Generally, BV goes away on its own. If you are in the first trimester, the doctors might want you to wait until 2nd trimester. The women will be given a dose of antibiotics.
Yeast Infection
Yeast infection occurs because of overgrowth of Candida, which lives in the vagina. The increased levels of estrogen can help to create that kind of environment. Other cause of yeast infection is intercourse and taking antibiotics. Both disturb the balance of natural pH in your vagina.
Symptoms
• Itching and pain in vagina, area can also feel raw
• Redness of vagina and swelling
• Pain and discomfort during sex
• Curled and thick discharge which might not have odor
• Burning while urinating.
