Vaccines For Your Children Analysis

The advertisement titled, “Vaccines for Your Children,” is an advertisement from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) website. It has three pictures in color to the left of the screen. The first is of a family celebrating a birthday. The second is of a group of young children smiling as they are leaving school and the third is of two mothers with their smiling babies. There is text to the right of the pictures of two sentences based on the findings of the CDC. There are also different links throughout the page that the public can click on leading to other reputable sources supporting vaccination.
Vaccines prevent many harmful and sometimes deadly diseases. According to the CDC, the United States has the safest, most effective vaccine supply in history. Safety monitoring begins with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), who ensures the safety, effectiveness and availability of vaccines in the United States. There are many studies and evaluations done by highly trained FDA scientist and doctors to determine the effectiveness and safety, before a vaccine is approved for public use. These pictures play to the emotional side of the public. The children are happy, smiling and are obviously loved. The parents choose to vaccinate their children to protect them and keep them safe from infectious diseases. It also states that “Vaccine-preventable diseases can be very serious, may require hospitalization, or even be deadly-especially in infants and young children”. This strong wording: “very serious, hospitalization and even death-especially in infants and young children,” is used to motivate the parents emotionally.
