One of the first reasons I believe this is because of herd immunity. Vaccines Today defines herd immunity takes place when a significant amount of a population is immunized, thereby making the spread of disease difficult or impossible. This is especially pertinent for highly contagious diseases such as measles and pertussis. Herd immunity is most beneficial for those who are unable to receive vaccines such as infants and immunocompromised. The only exceptions should be those who are medically unable to receive one and that should be decided by their doctor. So many can benefit from a few routine injections that it seems selfish to choose not too. I cannot imagine where someone would put the health at risk because of a rumor that a celebrity has started. There is no scientific proof that vaccines cause Autism. And even if there was the smallest chance that there was, ask yourself. Would you rather have a healthy child with a disability, or one that died as a result of a completely preventable
