Vaccines stimulate the body’s own immune system to protect he person against subsequent infections or disease. (WHO 2016). This was practiced in the second case study as the nurse helped a young woman (who had Hepatitis B) by giving her child the third dose of Hepatitis B which wasn’t given by a previous provider. The provider forgot to fix an appointment for the third dose because she was untrained professionally and worked according to patient guided directions (PDs). That provider’s action put the child at risk for contracting Hepatitis B. (Driver, 2015). Due to lack of this, people are prevented from getting vaccinated disabling diseases. For example, when I had my vaccines without insurance I spent 500 dollars to get all the immunization shots I needed. This was the cheapest as it was at the Marion county health department. Although 500 dollars is not a huge sum of money, immunization isn’t an expense that an individual will spend. Therefore, more resources should be put in place to make vaccines cheaper than they are, free vaccines like Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) should also be encouraged. Health care insurance plans should also take payments for routinely recommended vaccines into consideration and health care providers should be compensated for giving and educating individuals of the advantages and disadvantages of these

Immunization: “the creation of immunity usually against a particular disease; especially treatment (as by vaccination) of an organism for the purpose of making it immune to a particular pathogen” (Merriam-Webster). This method of eradicating a disease has gone on for many years, dating back to the 1700’s, when Edward Jenner studied Cowpox and small pox immunity. Immunization first began in the United States in 1721 when a Puritan Minister Cotton Mather, encouraged smallpox vaccination in response to an outbreak (History of Vaccines). Through the evolution of the medical world, the immunizations have become more potent, mandatory, and also thought to be linked with serious ramifications after being administered in the human body—especially…

Numerous parents have fled from the idea of getting their children vaccinated due to the belief that vaccinations harm children. The British doctor Andrew Wakefield conducted an experiment with the MMR vaccine. He and 12 of his colleagues published the Lancet, which shows that the MMR vaccine causes developmental issues in children. The Lancet underwent publication, but widely researched to prove that the MMR vaccine did not cause autism or developmental issues in children.…

Ever since the invention of the smallpox vaccine, more than 200 years ago, there has been a lot of controversy surrounding the ethics, effectiveness, and safety of vaccinations. Over the past few years, it has been widely debated whether laws should be introduced that make some or all vaccines mandatory for children. Personally, I am a strong supporter of creating such laws as those who choose not to vaccinate their children put them, and others, at risk for deadly diseases. The four-way test supports this decision to create such laws as it is truthful, fair, helpful, and beneficial to all concerned.…

On the other hand they may become frustrated from not knowing from one article to the next what they are supposed to believe, leading them to become fearful and suspicious of immunizations. It is important for healthcare providers to stay informed and up to date about common vaccine related concerns, as well as what to expect for the rationale for refusal.
