Personal Narrative Essay: The Vacation Of A Lifetime

Decent Essays
The Vacation of a Lifetime Ten hours would be spent in the car this day, but I was lucky enough to have my friend, Erica, by my side. The car was remarkably hot and steamy, being in the middle of June. Even though the car trip was lengthy, the experience I would go on to have down in Virginia Beach would make it all worth it. This trip is one of the most memorable times I have ever encountered with my family and friend. The activities we engaged in, being in a different environment, and even the trip down to witness the ocean all contributed to making this such a wonderful event; I had the time of my life.
Although I was not there yet, all the thoughts of the ocean alone took my mind off of each distraction and problem. Reviewing in

I could not believe how different the environment was from the place I called home. The people were way friendlier and extremely personable. People would come up to me and talk about surfing and the fantastic action to do around that area. The area of Virginia Beach is extremely relaxed and had an abundance of people lounging around, and enjoying themselves. At the beach the sounds of seagulls and the crashing waves crowded the air. In addition to the people lounging, around, I witnessed a vast number of people riding skateboards everywhere, in fact, someone was riding a skateboard around each corner I turned it seemed. Every place I had glanced it seemed that at least every other person was in a swimsuit. On the other hand like here in Newark I would have to have a shirt on to receive service at a restaurant, but some restaurants even encouraged people to only come in their swimsuit. The environment was extremely fascinating and diverse, and an extraordinary …show more content…
I would give anything to be able to relive, even a fraction of a moment, the time I spent there. The activities we did and being able to spend time with each other is unforgettable and irreplaceable. It was such a relaxing and welcoming environment, and I wish I could have had more time to enjoy it. The experiences I had here were undeniably the best times of my life with my friend and my

I miss them already. Despite the freezing cold snow and the nipping air, we had a lovely Christmas break. As I inspect my child, now grown with children of her own, holding tickets back to their home, longing envelopes me. Hoards of people push past, unaware of my pain, on their own schedules and heading toward different trains, talking and texting on their cell phones. My family boards, time as if in slow-motion, and waves goodbye until I see them again.…

Twelve years into our marriage, Shawn and I made a trip to the ever so beautiful Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. Since we had never even been on a honeymoon, this trip was a well needed vacation from the hustle and bustle of our everyday activities. The plane ride seemed to take forever. Once we landed and walked off the plane, the hot and humid ocean air hit us. I loved the airport; it was like a giant tiki hut, open to the outdoors!…

Growing up in Southern California we spent most of our summers at Lake Havasu and Parker. For as long as I can remember, getting to spend my summers on the lake with my close friends and family was what got me through the school year, knowing that for a full month I would have no cares in the world except for what adventures lay ahead of us. As the school year came to an end, all we could think about was getting to the lake to start our last summer together before we all ventured off in separate directions. Starting to pack and load up the RV was all I could think about for days, seeing as this was the last summer we would all spend together.…

I was smiling the whole time as the skin around my neck was being ripped off. Well I wasn’t actually smiling and as brutal as I made it sound, it wasn’t as horrific an event now that I look back on it. The incident occurred while I was on Spring Break during my freshman year in high school. My family and I were vacationing in Gatlinburg, Tennessee;which if I might add we’ve been there about eight times since I was seven years old. I remember clearly that day down to the exact temperature.…

Spring Break 2014… Helmand Province Afghanistan. A heat comparable to the feeling of opening a hot oven, blisters two Marines as they talk to pass time during their patrol. “Yo Webb, what are you doing when you get out of this shithole country and ‘EAS’ (end of active service)?” asked one, “Well, gonna use my GI Bill, live that college life and make something better of myself…” replied the other Marine as an explosion goes off interrupting them. What is free is not free, someone out there, somewhere, fought for it one way or another.…

During the summer of 2014, my family and I enjoyed a vacation in one of the most beautiful place I have ever visited. My uncle had won a trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for the whole family and we were ecstatic to say the least. I remember looking at pictures of the unbelievable mansion we would be staying in called Casa China Blanca, but no picture captured how amazing it truly was. Although, the entire city was not as luxurious as our gated community, I still believe Puerto Vallarta is one of the most enjoyable places I have ever been to. Upon arrival, my family and I piled into the chaotic airport filled with hundreds of people.…

It was an eight hour drive. Eight hours I would spend with three people I barely knew. This was the first time I had ever been anywhere over spring break, and I was going with a family that was not mine to a place I had never been. Anyone my age would consider a week away from their family to be a blessing, and I was no different. School was 700 miles away and I had a week ahead of me to do as I pleased while staying in a beach house for free.…

I have never willingly wanted to spend time in Nature or outside, but I could have stayed on this beach for the rest of my life. It was a super peaceful experience, and I do not think it could have been experienced anywhere else.
