In 1986, VCA Inc. was formed as a Delaware corporation and was privately owned. In 1987, they owned only one animal hospital. Since then, they have earned a spot in animal healthcare through their investments and through their personal growth. In the year of 2011, VCA operated 541 animal hospitals, 53 laboratories, and were a supplier of digital radiography and ultrasound imaging equipment. In January of 2012, they expanded their operations throughout Canada by increasing investment in Associate Veterinary Clinics, which operated 44 animal hospitals in three different Canadian provinces. In August of 2014, they acquired Camp Bow Wow Franchising, Inc., which expanded their participation in dog boarding and day care service. In December of 2015, VCA sold all of the assets of Vetstreet Inc., and purchased a 19.9% interest in continuing the Vetstreet business. …show more content…
Today, VCA is a leading healthcare company that still operates in the United States and Canada. They provide veterinary services as well as diagnostic testing services to support veterinary care. They also still sell diagnostic imaging equipment and other medical technology products that assist veterinarians. This company also provides services such as dog day care, overnight boarding, grooming and other services necessary for pet care facilities everywhere. VCA’s business strategy is to continue expanding their marketing leadership through Animal Hospital, Laboratory, Medical Technology and Camp Bow Wow operating segments. They uphold this business strategy by capitalizing on their leading market position to generate revenue growth, leveraging established infrastructure to improve margins, utilizing enterprise-wide information systems to improve operating efficiencies and by pursuing selected
