VBLOC, The device that uses an electrical stimulator to block signals from the vagus nerve. The Vagus nerve, is a nerve that which connects the brain into the gastrointestinal organs. In this procedure, two small electrodes are implanted next to vagal nerves, which are located at the top of the stomach. A regulator is implanted under the skin sends high pulses of electricity to the electrodes. While scientists don’t know exactly how it works, they theorize that the device blocks signals that would normally tell the stomach to expand and to accept food.
