Streets are safer, more visible and resilient with a new liquid lane coating product that merges sustainability with simplicity.
Jon Julnes began VANGUARD ADA Systems, a company that produces and installs outdoor surface products, in an attempt to create detectable street warning that worked.
As an installer, Julnes found an underlying problem in his line of work: The claims of other detectable warning products in the industry simply were not accurate: Preformed injection molded products came lose, created trip hazards, formed surfaces that were too slick and endangered pedestrians after impact from slow plows.

The firm is currently developing luminescent detectable warnings and traffic paint to better bring attention to what’s happening on the street.
“Anything we can do to make detectable warnings stand out, to draw the drivers attention to that area, especially at night, makes the world safer for blind and visually impaired,” Julnes said.
The future for the new EcoPath coating also appears to be a bright one as the product pioneers a new standard for sidewalk and passageway coatings in the future.
Vanguard ADA Systems continues to seek installers for its detectable warnings and are now looking for distributors of its new EcoPath coating.
“EcoPath is the newest product in Vanguard's line of coatings, and I'm confident it, like every other Vanguard product, will improve every year.” Julnes said.
