Utilitarianism On Abortion Research Paper

Decent Essays
Prep Post #8 A woman’s choice to terminate her pregnancy at 10 weeks gestation can be justified by using utilitarianism. It would be justified because in utilitarianism abortion can be morally right because the women could suffer consequences later in life if she does not abort. The women could lose her happiness she once had if she continues with the pregnancy, which a utilitarianist would see as a downside and allow the abortion. With the Kantian ethics, the permissibility depends on if the unborn child is considered a person. If it is the abortion at any stage would be wrong because the baby has rights as well. If the baby is not considered a person, then the abortion would be justified. A person has rights to self-defense in Kantian ethics

Abortion, Pro choice Abortion. Now depending on your religious moral beliefs you have this word might make you uncomfortable. But my goal in this paper is to make you see why you shouldn’t view abortion as the ending of a life but the saving of another. And in order to preserve women’s constitutional rights we should continue to allow them to choose how they wish to deal with a wanted or unwanted pregnancy.…

For example, most women in general did not want the baby to begin with. Like I had said, they took precautions by using some form of birth control in order to have a high chance of not getting pregnant. Even with the use of some form of birth control, they are sometimes defective and the woman may still end up pregnant. As to the objection that abortion is killing and thus morally wrong, I say that not all killings are morally wrong. For example, self-defense is justifiable as a means to defend yourself (191).…

One reason abortion is a social issue is because people don’t know whether it should be either illegalized or legalized everywhere. Tom Anderson says,” if abortions become illegalized then it will have a significant impact on women and would cause society to become like the third world. ”(Anderson,3) Which he describes as a place where the population suffers from poverty, malnutrition, treatable disease, poor health care, unemployment and lastly a place where women feel little empowerment concerning their reproductive lives. (Anderson, 3).…

Abortion Abortion has been labeled inhumane since the beginning of its practice. Throughout history, the way in which abortions have been conducted have always been cruel. There are many different procedures in which the abortion can be conducted. Although, very few of them are anything less than barbaric. Abortion should be illegal and considered murder. How could someone kill their own child? Would that person kill their child if they were 5 years old? It is the exact same thing. The reasons women have abortions are because they would not be able to take care of that child, to prevent a child from birth defects, pregnancy from rape or incest, or end an unwanted pregnancy.…

In the topic of abortion many people have different opinions. Some believe it should be completely illegal, some think it should be completely legal, and some people think it should depend on each case. Personally, I think it’s the woman's choice if she wants to keep it or not. I don’t think it is up to other people. We don’t know what the mother or father is going through and I would rather see a child not born, then have a child grow up around abuse, drugs or something even worse.…

Multitudes of people in our society today have made the decision to end their pregnancy due to very logical personal reasons. Considering the idea of whether or not a fetus is a human being, Kant or any other deontologists would consider the fetus to have a soul. This soul would make them out to be a human, born or unborn, and termination of the pregnancy would be considered murder (“Deontological Ethics”). What is known about deontology is that murder is absolutely and always wrong. Therefore, abortion would be immoral as well, no matter the situation behind the pregnancy. Overall, based on Kant’s views in the deontological approach, abortion is…
