One tablet costs around two hundred dollars. By doing the calculations, some school districts depending on size, would have to get a budget down possibly millions of dollars. This might be doable for some larger school districts, but then there are the smaller ones. A supervisor of network services at a Florida high school said that they are starting to have children bring tablets from home (Murphy). As much as this can save money for the school, they do not take into account what the student may have on their tablet or they may not have the right software. As convenient as this sounds, there will be children who do not have the opportunity at home to proceed with these assignments due to no internet. A solution to this problem is going to the library, but if the student is in middle school they will not have a form of transportation if parents are working or a conflict comes up. If the student does not have internet at home and cannot make it to the library the chances of getting a zero or some kind of reflection on their grade increases. This situation can result in parents getting mad because their child does not have the same learning opportunity as those with a higher economic standing. Growing up in my elementary school, some children were made fun of and bullied for not having internet. This problem is clearly out of the hands of the students because they are not trying to resist doing their homework, but it is just a material item that they typically do not have access to.
