Using Sunglasses To Avoid Running Shoes

Summer isn't the best time of year for running. The main reason is the heat. This includes your gear, such as your shoes and sunglasses.

Unfortunately, sunglasses don't always get the same attention as one's running shoes. Sunglasses are supposed to provide sun protection. However, protection from the sun from the point of view of many runners is shading the head from direct solar heat. This is why they favor a hat with a brim that shades the face. Instead, it's a long-term health issue, which if ignored, can seriously diminish your quality of life. Many runners understand the importance of avoiding skin cancer by using sunscreen.

Discomfort distracts your focus, while heavy sunglasses with a poor fit will bounce around and slip off once you begin to sweat. Clunky and heavy lenses or frames will cause trouble, so avoid them in the first place rather than learning the hard way. Constant readjustment and picking them up off the ground after they've fallen, exact a performance cost. Running gear is meant to enhance performance, not reduce it. This is obviously important in competitive situations, and is also important for enjoyment when you aren't

The formation of Melanin in our skin as a response to the exposure to the UV light is the protective mechanism. Melanin, while protecting our skin cells is also responsible for the dark pigment of our skin. It is the same mechanism that is released when we go suntanning. The exposure to the UV light causes the skin to release melatonin, giving us the " "golden glow" many of us are after. People, who live in the northern areas of the globe, further from the Equator where the atmosphere is thicker, shielding from the radiation, do not need as much Melanin in their skin.…

Solar or actinic elastosis is a condition associated with chronic ultraviolet damage superimposed on aging skin. It presents as a yellowish thickened appearance to the skin which is bumpy and covered with furrows. The condition is due to the accumulation of disordered elastic tissue in the upper and middle layers of the dermis, which are most susceptible to sun exposure. In this way solar elastosis is a biological indicator of the degree of ultraviolet-induced skin damage the individual has sustained, being a protective or compensatory response.…

However, beside all of it’s good qualities, the sun can also be harmful in large amounts. One of the most dangerous factors from sun is exposure of UV radiation. The UV radiations are separated by different wave lengths, and the most common types are UVA and UVB, which have a variety of effects in the skin due to the absorption patterns of chromospheres, the parts of the molecules. These ultraviolet radiations lead to mutations that the cell may not be able to overcome and thus leading to uncontrolled growth and eventual skin cancer.…

Running is a huge passion of mine and it has helped me in many ways to become the person that I am today. I joined my school's cross country team in eighth grade and since then running has made me a much happier person. When I was an elementary school student I was not very athletic, I had a lot of trouble in school, and I didn't have many friends. During recess, when most of the other kids were on the playing structure with their friends, on the basketball court, or playing a game I was usually sitting on one of the benches reading a book. I wasn't bothered at all, but I knew I could have been happier.…
