Unfortunately, sunglasses don't always get the same attention as one's running shoes. Sunglasses are supposed to provide sun protection. However, protection from the sun from the point of view of many runners is shading the head from direct solar heat. This is why they favor a hat with a brim that shades the face. However, other considerations such as the effects of glare on running performance and how UV exposure affects their health aren't given as much thought.
