Although many people feel doping in sports is wrong, others support the use of steroids to make the game more entertaining. Steroids are an organic compound used for muscle growth and development. They make you bigger, faster, and stronger. Using steroids is the fast track to gaining muscle without putting in as much work. If steroids would be permitted, many athletes would benefit from them stat wise. This was the case in baseball during the 1990s through 2005. This time period in baseball is known as “The Steroid Era”. Baseball popularity was at an all-time high. Home runs were flying out at a rate never seen before and hasn’t been seen since. Sports have been tarnished by steroid use. In sports, it is something special to watch a MLB player hit the ball 475 feet, or even watch NFL players run for an 80 yard touchdown. With steroids these feats would happen way more often. Take “The Steroid Era” to suggestion, baseball had a scarce amount of natural talent. Those who stayed clean, had a rougher time in the league competing with players who used PEDs. For men who take steroids, it can cause infertility, breast development, shrinking of the testicles, and spots of baldness. Also steroids can cause tendon ruptures. This can happen by the large amounts of testosterone and other sex hormones that normally triggers a growth spurt. Steroids also cause heart attacks, strokes, and high blood pressure. This happens when fatty substances are deposited inside arteries and disrupt blood flow preventing blood from reaching the heart. Cancers, and tumors are another series thing that steroid use can cause. Some side effects of steroids are rage, mania, and delusions. While some players are risking the use of steroids on the field that person is also putting their future health in jeopardy. Steroids affect the health of the individual and can create many problems in the long-run for that person as well as ruin the sports
