Quadratic Regression Assignment

Improved Essays
The topic of this assignment is to use quadratic regression, extrema and zero values to find number of banks to open in a particular area. The artifact had to be done individually. In order to do this artifact, we had to find the maximum value and the zeros of an equation with the data table that was given in the artifact paper. There were three tasks that was needed to complete this assignment. The first aspect was to find the quadratic equation that best fit the given data. I achieved this by using the stat plot that was in my graphing calculator. The data table was based on the number of banks to the number of people with accounts. The second thing I had to do was to find the zero and maximum values of the data that I inserted in the graph. The last job I had to do was to explain what the findings of the optimal number of branches tell us. This artifact took me about two days to finish, but it was due two weeks after it was assigned. The Critical Thinking Skills I learned was question, purpose, points of view, information, concepts, assumptions, inferences, and implications. The critical thinking skill I like the most is purpose because that is the …show more content…
The most challenging part of the assignment was writing about all the calculations that I found of the extrema values, and then including all these values in my artifact. I liked the topic of the assignment because I learned how regression and extrema play a role in Civil Engineering and other real-world solutions. In the real world, the use of scatterplots, quadratic regression, and maximums and minimums from quadratic functions can be used to help people in their daily lives, for instance, finding the optimal number of banks to open in a particular area. Purpose is the critical thinking standard I like best because that is the main idea of what everybody is trying to

I enjoyed completing the Project Implicit test and found it to be an interesting assessment. I like that the quiz was based on an automatic response and that pictures or words were assimilated with hidden biases. My skepticism around the test was based on the order the pictures and words were presented. After taking multiple series with pictures on a certain side, and then the pictures reversing, it felt as if the brain was already conditioned to a go to a particular side. My other skepticism was the first round of questions were based on the common stereotype for race and gender roles.…

This artifact consists of a graph demonstrating the progress of the student towards their goal and a sample reading probe. This artifact is just a sample CBM that was created based on provided data. This artifact represents my ability to create reading probes for CBM tests and properly documenting the progress of a student based on the data collected. This artifact would fit under standard #6: assessment, since it demonstrates one of the many ways that I can assess my students in the future. This assessment type also demonstrates how to monitor students’ progress which also proves how this artifact fits under this standard.…

After finishing the English 101 course I feel like I have accomplished many of the goals that I was challenged with the beginning of the course, such as critically thinking and reading with text from the textbook “Dialogues” by Gary Goshgarian, substantively replying to my peers to understand their point of views from the text and to get a better understanding of a rhetorical argument. Thinking and reading critically were very important this whole course. Thinking and reading critically were something you would have to do in every assignment that was given. Incorporating it in every assignment has helped us greatly improve week by week and betters our understanding of each topic and the assignments main idea.…

Understanding the problem is one of the basics integral to critical thinking. This is because critical thinking focuses on developing solutions to a problem, which implies that it must begin with understanding the problem. Understanding the problem involves highlighting their nature, context and complexity, which influences decisions on the level of one’s control over a specific problem (Elder & Paul, 2012). Defining the purpose of addressing a problem is also an important element of critical thinking. It helps in coming up with the desired outcomes of a critical thinking process, which limits the influence of other forces such as bias (Milford, 2015).…

Learning can be interpreted in many ways to different individuals, although to me learning is about gaining knowledge and embracing every experience encountered and linking it to any task. Also I would explain that being open minded is a strong attribute to apply during the learning process. During my week one I stated that learning is to open and broaden an individual’s mind on subjects to gain knowledge or skills, and I’ve grown to realize its more than that. People can learn using different methods and be more responsive to one rather than the other. I am a Strong-Willed learner.…
