Even though opponents say that using drones for military use is not accurate and can become dangerous and or invade civilian's privacy, it has been proven to be efficient, effective and safer for men and women of our military. Accuracy within (UAV) technology is very precise and uses absolute location. Most UAV's are ran off of the use of the global positioning system. (GPS) works by the using satellites in space that send messages to a built-in antenna on board the drone. A user types in the coordinates and the drone goes to that location, completes its mission, and then returns to its home coordinates. However, drones do use cameras and can be flown manually outside of the set coordinates. "Drones keep soldiers safe are accurate …show more content…
These drones are ran off of lithium ion batteries and modern drones are taking advantage of using solar energy. The overhead of utilizing these machines is very low. UAV's are potentially an alternate source for a man. UAV's are very fast, being unmanned they can travel faster and more undetectable than jets. With this, there is reassurance that a military can stay one step ahead of enemy lines. Speed is not the only category, though. Persistence is completely dominant over other alternatives. A fleet of drones can capture twice the amount of footage or do twice the amount of damage in half the time for half the cost that a manned jet is able to do. "Small UAV's are being armed with 40 mm grenades and were given to the air force special operations soldiers."(Wilson 10-15). If many UAV's are given to all special operation shoulders on the front lines, it can save many lives, making platoons be a step ahead on forming battle strategy to make a better move and defeat the enemy quicker. When armed with 40 mm grenades (UAV's) can become efficient to push forward at enemy lines, and take out the …show more content…
"UAVs are also much more environmentally friendly than other leading military aerial machines since they utilize the use or electrical energy"(Braun 73-87) A drones ability to fly using lithium ion batteries and being constructed of lightweight aluminum makes it more environmentally friendly. Drones are switching to the use of solar power, and no longer need to be charged at charging ports. They now charge sitting in the sun. This is an advantage because there is no energy expense for the unmanned aerial vehicle making it more energy efficient. This advantage also helps during flight. Electrical motors use a lot of energy, so batteries don't last very long. Since solar technology has come along, they are able to charge as they fly and now are enabled with the capability to stay in the air longer and go further. UAV's have a purpose after the military retires them. They can be taken apart and recycled or wiped and reused for first responders, police force or as a training device for military technicians. With the ability to be reused or recycled it makes drones more cost efficient since the military does not have to buy the drones twice for training and for battle. The military also can sell the drones to a
