Walton Art Center utilized some factors that would indicate the use of the differentiation strategy. This approach puts an emphasis on uniqueness and formulates its products and services to be distinguishable from other competitors (Lester & Pernell,2006). Another aspect of the differentiation strategy is to pursue new products and new ways to promote its services (Lester & Pernell, 2006). Newly elected president Anita Scism exhibited various traits of the differentiation strategy. One example that Scism displayed was the organization of a two-day strategic planning retreat. The target objective of this retreat is to formulate new, unique, and forward thinking ideas that would rekindle the enthusiasm from the community as well as set them apart from other performing art centers (Tod & White,2002). Additional illustrations of the differentiation strategy include the addition of new performance shows and a platform for students and teachers to learn and grow creatively. …show more content…
The low-cost method is a generic format that businesses uses to keep production and operation cost low while maintaining distinguishable quality (Lester & Pernell,2006). The repercussions of the low-cost strategy are often a decrease in affordability for the consumer.
