In today’s society, social media has become something of a cultural norm. It started with teens and adolescents using it the most to connect with friends. “Researchers have shown that it enhances communication, social connection, and even technical skills” (O’Keeffe, 2011). As it become more popular parents decided to get in on the use of social media to keep up with their child’s life. Some parents were able to keep up with all the technological advancements but even more parents were left in the dust which started to create a rift in the relationships between parent and child due to the break in understanding of their kid’s online life verses their offline life (O’Keeffe, 2011). When the parents do not understand or keep up with social media like kids do they are not as up to date and do not understand why their
