2. This is the most important quote in this book because it shows two things. The first is Lucy’s kindness and her will to forgive. It is also important because it contains the theme. The writers style in this book is fairly plain. There is nothing extremely special about it. The books setting is in England so they do use British English, but apart from that, there is nothing that makes this difficult to read. She also uses a ton of similes and metaphors. An example of a simile is” Forest and hills and valleys and, winding away like a silver snake, the lower part of the great river (PG. 129). “Similes and metaphors make a text more descriptive and vivid as does all figurative language.
4. We are in a society in which people hold grudges. People don’t know how to let it go when they need to. For example, in a book that I read for the 12 Text Challenge, The Contender, Alfred is scared at the beginning because a gang is angry with him about something that he didn’t even mean to do. This gang should have let it go and befriended Alfred. Instead their intent was to beat him and make him feel sorry.
5. I will most definitely change because of reading this text. I have learned that holding grudges will only hold me back. When I have a disagreement, I will no longer hold the grudge. I will forgive and forget. Grudges only hold people back because when two people hold grudges against each other and nothing is being done to fix their relationship, it will just get worse. Instead if one forgives it would help the whole
