Tim Burton uses many cinematic techniques in his films. For example, he uses lighting,music/sound and editing.he uses each technique for a specific reason. His main reason for using them is so he can show the audience his style. His style is very dark,gloomy and suspenseful. So with him using those techniques it allows the audience to see and feel his style.
Tim Burton uses lighting to create the mood of a scene. As seen in “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” right before Wonka opened the door to the candy room the scene had low key lighting. By Tim using low key lighting at that time it created suspense, the once he opened the door to the candy room the scene, then changed to high key lighting which changed the whole mood.Tim also used lighting in “Edward Scissorhands”. For example, in “Big Fish” the dynamics of the music changed over time when the camera was on Carl. In the beginning once the camera was on Carl the music was dark and suspenseful, but once Edward and Carl talked the whole dynamic of the scene changed. With the music being suspenseful.In the beginning, it kept the viewer's wanting to know what will happen next, but once the dynamic changed it lightens the viewers perspective of Carl. Tim also used music/sound to convey mood in “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”. Burton was hinting at the beginning right when everyone walked into the candy room that something was going to happen with Augustus. Everytime the camera was put on him the music would be very suspenseful, then was the camera was taken of him the dynamic of the music would change. With him making the music suspenseful everytime the camera was placed on Augustus it that the viewers know that something was going to happen with
