In Shakespeare play Romeo and Juliet the nurse is presented as a very bubbly person as she is not particularly sensitive or clever but she is naive. Within this essay I will explore the ways in which the nurse is presented by analysing her personality. Also I will explain the significance of act 1 scene 3 finally I will examine how or if the nurse is contrasted in the movie version by Baz Luhrmann.

When I had watched the films I had compared them to the book as the fighters have guns in the movie as in the play they have swords. Also in the play they had cut a lot of the nurse’s lines (probably to save time) as I did not understand the character as much. By watching the movie I had a clear image of the nurse by watching the different movies.
All the actors and actresses in the play Romeo and Juliet had the same nationally and descent as in the movie which was made in 1996 the nurse has a Greek accent and does not appear the same as the other characters.
In conclusion, the audience can see that the nurse is a compassionate figure to Juliet and loves her deeply. Their relationship is great until the turning point where Juliet is betrayed by the nurse.
