Usages Of Semicolons

In preparation of teaching 6th graders grammar lessons, Slim and I first spent time on consulting, in order to decide which topic we would cover in class. Then, after we decided to talk about semicolons, we concentrated on doing research about the correct usages of semicolons -- for instance, under what circumstances semicolons should be used? What rules should we obey while using semicolons? Last, we came up with an organized outline of the course plan, made a powerpoint that encampasses various examples, and designed a series of engaging activities for our students.
In the classes, Slim and I did an overall great job of teaching the 6th graders the grammar of semicolons. More specifically, we explicitly explained the two major usages of semicolons,
