Since we had the mindset that we were destined to expand we started to get involved in other countries. An example of the U.S. intervening with other countries was when we went into Cuba and helped them win independence from Spain. This was the Spanish-American War, as an end result, America won many new territories such as the Philippines and was then saw as “powerful”.
