The US Flag is a symbol of the United States of America. It carries different meanings for many people but, in whole, the flag resembles the past, present, and future of the nation we are all blessed to live in. Because of the overall history of the US Flag, we still hold our right hand over our hearts while we pledge allegiance or sing the “Star-Spangled Banner.” The construction of the US Flag represents the past of the United States. The thirteen stripes symbolize the original thirteen colonies upon which the United States were founded. The fifty stars represent the fifty states eventually adopted into the union. Throughout this time many wars were fought to ensure our independence, but the concept of the US Flag remained the same.
