After September 11, 2001 the US and Pakistan started to work as closely allies against war on terror. However, this alliance has seen several setbacks, especially during last four years. Ninety percent of this aid went to military to support the war on terror. Between 2009 and 2013, the US contributed over $3.55 billion in civilian assistance focusing on areas like education, health, economy and energy. Also, bilateral trade between the US and Pakistan have exceeded up to $5 billion. The main US investments are concentrated in fast-moving consumer goods, construction, chemicals, energy, and communications. However, this aid helped to improve relations in political level, but lacked influence of Pakistani people.
Another important side in the US and Pakistan relations is association with India. Indian issues are not letting Pakistan fully focus to its Afghanistan border. Since from president Obama, the US administration’s Pakistan policy has included also improving Pakistan’s relations with India.
