Ursula K. Le Guin

What if everybody was accepted? What if someone did not have to pretend to be somebody they are not, just to try and fit in? Authors Ursula K. Le Guin, William J Brennan and director Bill Brummel. All of them created a short story or a documentary about acceptance and how not all things get accepted right away. People thrive to be a part of something, and without acceptance you couldn't be a part of it. Imagine not being able to be on a sports team, theatre or some club at school, because you are afraid that you won't be able to fit in with the other kids. It is a good thing that people try to accept others despite of what they think of them. All people should be treated equally, no matter who they are or what they believe in. In the beginning

The book, “Divided We Fall”, is very political and deals with social problems that would involve people to be tolerant. In the book there are many who are not tolerant and who won’t assimilate in the situation they’re in. I think the author meant to show many others not being tolerant or assimilative in order to show that these are good traits to have. The people protesting in Boise were certainly not tolerant to the Governor’s opposing views and that did not end well for them.…

Speaking as a film and sports lover, it’s highly unlikely that historical sports dramas will ever get old. To this day, movies like Field of Dreams, Miracle, and Rocky continue to withstand the test of time – at least in my eyes. They’re ever more enjoyable whenever said productions tackle real life events, meaning Cool Runnings and A League of Their Own are unlikely to get old anytime soon, either. Outside of the major sports, though – it would appear track and field is beginning to take off cinematically. We’ve received a dramatized glimpse of it recently in Unbroken, which depicted Louis Zamperini’s trip to the 1936 Summer Olympics (popular sporting event, apparently), and also in McFarland, USA, which tells the story of Latino high school cross country team’s rise to statewide prominence.…

In this story people don’t accept Ender because he was born third in his family making him a third. He also has a chip in his neck that was put in there when he was born because having a third child where they’re from isn’t normal and is shun upon by the people. “Perhaps it's impossible to wear an identity without becoming what you pretend to be.”…

My personal philosophy is to be accepting. For example, I am in Peer Connections, a class where students help in the Special Education classrooms at Pioneer. I help teach students with multiple cognitive and physical impairments during 5th hour everyday. This class has allowed me to spread acceptance through our school as I share my experiences and recruit others for the class and the corresponding club, which I am also a part of. As a member of the Project Unify club, I help make sure that students in the Special Education department have normal high school experiences, like going to prom, football games, and pep assemblies.…

The public has some influence over the media, but media creators are the ones who have the most since they are consciously and/ or unconsciously integrating their experiences, biases, values, and beliefs. With the rise of dystopian/utopian fiction films, fear of loss of autonomy has become more relevant since this genre predicts a vial future for the United States which causes distress and fascination to many. Majority of these films, where a totalitarian government is most likely in power, fail to explain how the government got into power, instead the stories are focused on the action. The action in these films is highly unlikely to be realized by the average human being. The average human is not talented in martial arts, possess super strength…

“We as human beings, must be willing to accept people who are different from ourselves.” I agree that we should be accepting to people different than ourselves. At time it can be very hard to do this and sometimes we don't even realize what we are doing to the person's feelings. For the other person this can be very hard on them. We need to take the time before we say something to think about whether or not it is going to crush this person.…

We live in a society where it is difficult to go against the norm. Each of us are pressured to act a certain way, or look a certain way in order to be accepted. Such as teenagers may face peer pressure to do certain activities that may not be right to them, but do it anyways, because they want to fit in. But this burden of conformity is not only present in the real world, it can be found in literature as well. The story "St. Lucy’s Home For Girls Raised by Wolves" by Karen Russell depicts that in order to conform to society, individuals abandon their selflessness and compassion and become selfish and apathetic.…

Queens in the Closet Drag Queens are known as a male transvestite, especially a performer who dresses as a woman to entertain the public; a usually homosexual man who dresses as a woman and performs as an entertainer especially to caricature stereotypically vampish women. After studying this group over the last couple of weeks, it became very opaque that being diverse and not of the norm is not in society’s favor. There are two types of drag queens, such as those who are in the drag industry full time and those who only participate part time. However, they have many similarities.…

Transgender Transgender is not a choice or a phase it is a consistent gender identity that as a society we need to learn to accept. Transgender means that you do not identify your gender as the sex that you were assigned to at birth. Transgender people have the hardest time being accepted by their own families and loved ones, which really presents a problem in the transgender community. In recent studies showed that 75% of transgender individuals have experienced significant rejection from their families which brings up the issues of why so many families of a transgender have a hard time accepting the reality at hand and some never do. Being accepted in today’s society is so difficult because as humans, we are so judgmental, so I can only…
