Because the lack of healthcare and physicians available in refugee and IDP camps, in addition to a survey question that simply asks women if they have had a UTI/how many UTIs they have had, I would also like to ask if they have experienced any symptoms of UTIs in order to get information about possible undiagnosed UTIs. Although, I believe a case can be made that fear of sexual assault may be seen as multidimensional if a woman describes herself as not fearful but participates in activities that suggest intense fear. Both measures are also generally stable overtime, although some of the questions regarding fear of sexual assault and contingent upon being within a refugee or IDP camp. The wording in both measures must be easy to comprehend. Even though many refugees and IDPs are educated, they are often highly stressed and a relatively quick survey that does not over exhaust the women is necessary. To ensure that the measures are both reliable and valid, it will be necessary to compare women’s survey results. If women from similar backgrounds with similar experiences and living in the same area have drastically different fear scores, it may be a sign that the measure is not valid.
