Providing the best healthcare is a strategic approach to continuous quality improvement. Implementing new changes with the guidance of a leader makes for a smooth transition within your department. In our department we have reduced the number of Urinary Tract Infections by implementing catheter associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI). Working as a team we have dramatically reduced the amount of infections, shortened the length of use, and decreased overall use. New procedures take time to implement, train, educate, put into action, evaluate, and look at the outcomes. Did the process actually work, what can be changed for improved results, were patients actually better off without a foley? All questions
