Human trafficking is a very profitable business. (Urban-Light) It makes about 150 billion annually around the world. Traffickers usually target certain groups including: low income households, ethnic minorities, LGBT youth, people with low levels of education, and young children running away from home. According to the Department of Justice, 100,000-300,000 children are at risk for trafficking and it’s also the second largest criminal enterprise. Urban Light has this program called The Eight Pillars. The Eight Pillars includes: Health, Employment, Housing, Education, Harm Reduction, Prevention, Outreach, and Legal Support. Most of the pillars provides health education, HIV/STI/STD testing, treatment, life skills workshops, housing and employment. In the outreach pillar, they go out and do weekly visits and provide health services, health kits, and emergency hotlines information. In those life skill workshops, they learn how to live independently and how to manage life on their own. Urban Light helps provide ID cards/health cards in the legal support pillar. Urban Light can also provide education, such as, Art, English, Math, Social Studies, and Language classes. Urban Light will always be here for victims of human
