When Ronson was asked about how the process of recording Uptown Funk began Ronson said “I think that where it came from and the initial birth of it did come out of a jam at Bruno's studio. He was playing drums and Jeff Bhasker, who co-produced the record that's who's on synths and I was playing bass, and I think that that spirit, or at least the raucousness, of maybe that is in there. And then, yeah, like, along the way you fine-tune it because you're thinking (Ronson).” Ronson went on to tell a story about recording the guitar for Uptown Funk, Ronson said “We did 45 takes of it and I just couldn’t get it, it sounded like horrible bullshit, so we went to lunch, walked down to a restaurant. Everyone was saying: ‘Dude, what’s wrong with you? You’ve gone totally white.’ Because I was going on pretending everything was just fine; you don’t want to admit that you’re just not there, you’re not where you want to be. And I went to the toilet and just fainted. I threw up, and fainted. They had to come and carry me out of the toilet (Ronson).” The amount of stress that Ronson was under during the creation of Uptown Funk seemed to push him to a creative space that few producers get to see; and challenged him to creative something exceptional. Music consumers today have it easier than ever to get to listen to the hottest songs and thought a variety of ways. Whether on Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and YouTube consumers can hear about music the day and even minutes of initial release and listen and keep up with their favorite artists or bands. This effectively gives the music consumer access to their favorite music, making it easier for big companies to market their music. But also this makes the market over saturated for smaller artists to standout against bigger more recognizable artists. While a double edged sword I feel as thorough that technology in the future will lead to more opportunities for smaller artists than negative. More artists big or small all have the same platform to work with today’s music
