Upper Class Student Interview As I sat down with upperclassman, Katie Klaes, an Osage native and Ag Business senior here at Iowa State University, I learned valuable information about Iowa State and the Ag Business program. Katie began her adventure at Iowa State in the fall of 2012 and is now in her final year working towards her degree in Ag Business, with a minor in Agronomy. When I asked Katie why she chose Iowa State she admitted that it was the only college she visited, but she fell in love with the campus and atmosphere Iowa State had to offer. Originally, Katie planned on majoring in Kinesiology, but quickly changed her mind after talking to Hannah Christensen, a friend and upperclassman who majored in Ag Business at Iowa State.
Katie gave great advice when I asked her about success here, at ISU. She informed me that taking heavier class loads freshman and sophomore year was a great decision on her part. This allowed her to get the difficult classes out of the way and get

She is part of the Ag Business Club, CALS Council, and AMMO (Agricultural Marketing and Management Organization). She has also tried other clubs, but has found herself the most actively involved in each of the previously stated clubs. When I asked Katie about her freshman year she had few regrets. Klaes wished she would’ve attended the basketball games, golf outing, and gotten to know the people on her floor better. She recommended that I attend all events held by the Ag Business program because they won’t be disappointing and to take the classes I enjoy in Ag Business and focus on that. She lastly recommended to participate in a study abroad. Throughout the interview, Klaes gave great advice. She gave me an insight on what’s to come in the Ag Business program and how to make my time at Iowa State the best four years of my life.
