In the first place Harper experiences an internal conflict. Harper loves to teach children ballet. Madame foresee her teaching and finds it exceptional. Harper is offered a teaching job in London but, she denies it. She trys out for every ballet studio in San Francisco but, sadly she is offered no internships. She feels internally conflicted over ballet and Madame dream for her to teach. She feels that ballet is over for her even though she still has a love for the dance. She is stuck between becoming a professional ballerina or becoming a ballet teacher. Consequently, she decides to go to Antarctica on a grant to study her ancestor, Robert Falcon Scott. She is lost in ice and snow with nowhere to go. The air is below freezing and there is barely any food in the housing. She has a chance to go back home halfway through the trip but she decides to stay even though the weather is horrible. This is a external conflict she faces in the story. She has to face the freezing cold weather. She also has to start to eat differently since o vegetables grew in Antarctica. Lastly, she is torn between her best friend and a guy. Her best friend, Kate, gets a scholarship to dance in New York. Kate realizes San Francisco is her home and decides to dance professionally there instead. Harper was a dedicated, hard-working ballerina but now she is still hard-working but has learned to go with the flow. Even though the thought of failing is scary, it happens to everyone. Harper experiences the feeling of failing when she has tried out for every studio but got denied every time. Though she gave up, her friends and family was there to help her through it a rough patch in her life. This story shows that you can fail but with the help of your friends, you can get right back on your feet. The moral behind the story is you can fail and give up but, do not let that get in the way of your
