Families will put their children up for adoption for many reasons. These consist of single mothers and couples that can’t afford to take care of their children. Children are put up for adoption because their parents abuse them or abuse drugs. Often the children’s parents are too young to take care of a newborn child. As an adopted child, I have stood in the shoes of many these helpless children. Fortunately, I was gifted with a second chance at life. Many children don’t have the opportunity to be adopted. At the age of 16, Russian children are removed from orphanages. They are given minimal money to live on their own, few have the support or opportunity to attend a trade school or college.
