Her contributions to the deaf world she took something that many people consider an obstacle or a limitation and learned to use it as an advantage in her racing career. Her parents played a huge roll in her decision to go into motocross but also in her being confident and doing what she loved and what she believed in. They didn’t let anyone tell her that she couldn’t do something and even took her out of the school she was in when they thought she was being taught that she was limited. Ashley is not seen as handicapped in any of the communities she is a part of.
Anyone no matter who you are can learn something from Ashley. She has an inspiring story. She put herself in a situation where she had to compete with hearing males when she is a Deaf female. She is an inspiration to deaf people because she never saw herself as limited. She learned to ride a motorcycle based on the vibrations instead of the sound she makes jokes about not being able to hear the smack talk from other people so that it doesn’t affect her. She’s an all around inspirational person.
We can learn to accept ourselves as who we are from her. People can learn that even if someone might believe that you can’t do something unless you try you’ll never know. There is always going to people who will try to bring you down and tell you that something is impossible
