Unsympathetic Characters In Things Fall Apart

We all have emotions that often times get the best of us, but we can’t let them. We can get angry but not let it over power us, the same for the other emotions, because it never leads to something good. In the novel “things fall apart” by chinua Achebe, okonkwo does many things out of anger that are not good, like the way treats the people around him, and his actions. Okonkwo is an unsympathetic character because of the way he justifies everything he does with anger, and the way he treats his wives.
In the novel things fall apart, we learn that okonkwo has three wives, and tWe get mad over the little things that people do. In the novel “Things Fall Apart” by Chinua Achebe, Okonkwo does many things out of anger, but he does not regret afterwards.hat he beats two of them for something that could have been talke There is Objiudo who is his third wife, in the book it says that “when she returned he beat her heavily”. Okonkwo beat her for the fact that she left her children with another women, when he could have talked to her, before he resorted to such brutality. He he was so mad that he almost beat her to death. Then there was Ekuefi his second wife. In the novel it says “ without further arguments he gave her a sound beating.” All Ekuefi did was cut a few leaves off a tree, she didn't have to be beat to understand what she did was wrong.

For example they were both treated horribly. Both of them are beat for stupid reasons that could be talked over. As well as they are both almosted killed in the process. Even though Okonkwo beat both of them he only scared Ekuefi. For Example in the texts it says”And there lay a women very much shaken and frightened but quite unhurt.” All okonkwo did was scare EKuefi. Unlike Objiudo who he beat to a pulp. In the text it say “ He beat her Heavily”. This shows that Okonkwo could control his anger and he did some harm to his
