1.Introduction

In the following I will present the teenage novel "Unschuldig - Pretty Little Liars", written by Sara Shepard and published in 2009 in Munich.The german translation is from Violeta Topalova. The book is about 5 girls who are really close friends, but one day their "Leader" Alison disappears. Once her absence becomes a mystery, the remaining girls become bothered by an anonymous person known as "A". This person blackmails them into doing things by using their secrets as weapons.

2.The Author

Sara Shepard was born in 1977. She grew up in Philadelphia, where she collected experiences that inspired her to write these novels.

Ever since 7th grade, the five friends are their own clique and other girls dread to be apart of it.

At the beginning, everything seems to be running smoothly but as their pranks are starting to get reckless, one girl was hurt very badly. Because of this, they promised one another to keep their secret within their clique. Every since the oath was created it caused the girls to become closer and Alison became their leader.

One night at a sleepover, Alison wants to hypnotize the girls and Spencer is unsure about doing it, which starts a fight between Alison and Spencer. They go outside while the other girls are hypnotized and soon after Spencer rejoins the sleepover, just as the girls wake up. Time goes by and the girls realize Alison disappeared. After three years, the girls have grown apart. Every girl has their own issues and secrets. Someone called "A" is spamming them with messages about their secrets, which only Alison has

Reading the book, you get caught up in the girl's situations and feelings. The cover really grabbed my attention and I do not regret it. Sara Shepard emphasizes that not all pretty girls are perfect. Everyone makes mistakes and just because someone is better looking that doesn't mean we should always look up to them. That is why I would recommend it to the girls, but also I would like to recommend the show if someone doesn't like reading because the show is somewhat similar to the
