1. Marketing is different in these 2 countries because of cultural norms. Both Brazil and India are facing an issue with a large amount of its population having AIDS. In Brazil, many people practice Roman Catholic. Catholics do not believe in abortions or any methods of contraception. Therefore, the government decided to promote female condoms because it is more acceptable than male condoms in Brazilian culture. Some of the strategies they used were becoming one of the few countries to offer a promising AIDS drug free to those who need it. However, the price of female condoms was 3 times the price of male condoms. For that reason, the Brazilian government should put a price cap on female condoms to about the same or at a lower price of male condoms. In India, men were embarrassed to buy condoms in public. As a result, the Indian government decided to use barbers as a way to communicate with men about safe sex. The barbershops are one of those places where Indian men feel comfortable enough to talk about anything. I believe it was a smart strategy for the Indian government to pay barbers to become educators for safe sex. The Indian government also took advantage of the cinemas by showing commercials in the previews before the movie starts. In rural areas, trucks play music from well-known movies with rewritten lyrics. 2. Americans are more aware of the consequences for unprotected sex. Americans are adaptable and more positive about information that links to a longer, happy and healthier lifestyle. In Brazil, the men have a strong sense of masculine pride. Women are afraid of getting beaten and losing their economic support. About 50% of Brazilian men admitted that they had an affair in the past year. Women are afraid to ask their men to use condoms. In India, men are not as open with their personal life compared to Americans. As you can see, cultural differences play a huge role between the 3 countries when it comes to understanding the consequences of unprotected sex. 3.

Therefore, it is not needed for the American government to play music from trucks in rural areas. India is trying to establish AIDS education in high school. Most of the students in America receive some sex education at some point in their lives; therefore, the awareness level is high compared to India and Brazil. The American government could use Brazil’s idea and distribute condoms during events that have high levels of sexual activity. During events, the state department of sexual health education can help sponsor and distribute condoms to guests attending large events. 4. The London International Group should start by addressing common misconceptions about having safe sex. Untrue myths need to be addressed. The group should start by educating parents and adolescents. Sex education needs to be required for all students in developing countries. The organization can try to have directors include the use of condoms in movie scenes. Creating an annual worldwide awareness event, similar to Relay for Life, can promote the prevention of AIDS. Depending on what country and culture is being involved, the London International Group should figure out top events held in those countries. 5.
