The general argument made by author Laurie Vasquez in her work, Could Human Actually Live on Mars? is quite simply that people have the ability to make it to the moon, they just need the materials, technology, and people to help them achieve that goal. More specifically, Vasquez argues that NASA has the technology to achieve the dream of landing on Mars. They mainly have to learn how to overcome the challenges of going to the red planet. She writes that, “‘We’ve had the technology since we went to the moon,’ Petranek says. … the journal Scientific Reports found that even after six months, Mars astronauts would experience brain inflammation and neuron damage.…

Human Exceptionalism & Othering There are two issues in human history and today’s society that must be addressed. These issues are the concepts of human exceptionalism and othering. In simpler terms, these words are based on the phrases “I am human, therefore I am better” and “You are different therefore you are inferior.” As humans, we naturally look at all other living or non-living organisms as inferior. One last reason why people shouldn’t go to Mars is because there are so many risks of Death in atmospheric pressure, temperature, and common casualties such as sickness or even as simple as a suit ripping. These can also be fatal because the pressure is so different there that anyone would die in seconds if something went wrong and their body met the outside air. Let alone all of these horrible casualties, there would also be extreme boredom because all day people would do chores, go to the bathroom, and then conduct research. These are only a few of the many reasons of why not to waste time going to…
