University Of Houston-Downtown: Case Study

As someone who is not originally from Texas there were many factors that went into my decision to attend the University of Houston-Downtown. I first heard about UHD from my sister who had nothing but good things to say about the university, then I was reigned in by Dr. Mari Nicholson of the university Honors Program. As the end of high school approached I knew that making the move from Louisiana to Texas to attend UHD would not be a mistake. Growing up I always looked up to the ambassadors at each level of education because to me they always represented the cream of the crop. While attending the week long freshman seminar many of the individuals that I had first contact with were ambassadors, carrying out tours and trying to coax the shyness out of new admits. At that point I knew that if the opportunity ever opened up to apply for the team then I would take advantage and apply. To me, ambassadors may not be the first face you come into contact with but they should make every effort to be the most memorable. Ambassadors have a crucial job in handling freshmen and transfers, individuals who may not be familiar with UHD or what it has to offer. I have been branded as a "people person" by those who personally know me but I am just very passionate about sharing knowledge and connecting with other individuals. I especially love recruiting and connecting with those who have zero knowledge about UHD because I look into the eyes of prospective freshman and I remember when I was in their shoes. In the past I thought that only the most outgoing, smart, and friendly were worthy of being ambassadors. Since coming to UHD I have realized that those are helpful qualities but the passion is what gives an ambassador
