UEC is a health-based teaching facility that continuously engages in ethical practice within the community. This is done by conducting vision screening in the community, through various places such as pre-schools and senior centers in all boroughs. This raises awareness to prevent certain eye diseases and conditions.
Providing social services is for patients and their family who are coping with their conditions.
The potential Ethical dilemma the department of social services faces at UEC is conducting the intake forms for admission. The intakes forms create many gaps in the services because it is done over the phone. One example, when a social worker calls for the intake, sometimes the person's adult child or spouse answers the call. The ethical dilemma of informed consent becomes a factor because there is no written constant form.Therefore, this creates gaps in the services that make it difficult for the social works team.
For both agencies for it to adequately serve the community, ethical standards and practice are essential as it facilitates the way in which services are
