Universal vs. Privatized HealthCare Systems
Universal and privatized healthcare systems are both proven effective, in different countries and in different environments, A comparison between the similarities, and some insight on the differences between the two is what we are interested in. The difference between how the universal system compared to the privatized system could help our country, and which would be more beneficial to the citizens of the US.
A Universal system could lower costs of HealthCare all around and provide equal insurance to all US citizens. Currently the US is ranked 37th by the World Health Organization, and in 2005 a staggering 45 million citizens lacked Health Insurance, nearly 15% of the US population. A Privatized System. A Universal system in theory sounds amazing, truly an end all solution to the HealthCare ailments of the world. But in reality, in the real world when someone wishes to make a theory a dream come true, that theory or dream is realized by having the right amount of money to be able to apply to change the theory or dream into reality. And with a Universal HealthCare System the amount of money required is massive, on top of that it is not a onetime payment, the money that would be required would be a regular occurrence, a yearly or perhaps monthly payment. And seeing as how the benefits of this program would be seen by the citizens who would pay this fee? Not such an amazing “End all solution” now is it? Yeah because we as citizens would carry the burden of paying that fee. Okay we give it a try, we pay this monthly let’s say $500 Dollar fee, still doesn’t sound too bad right? Now let’s be real. Let’s throw in some government corruption, extortion, and the evasion of payments from the Rich and those who cannot afford to pay. While treatment is still granted to those who cannot afford to pay, and those who choose not to pay. Now the monthly fee ranges around $700 let’s say, still not so bad? Compared to a Privatized system where your employer would typically cover the majority of your Healthcare costs most likely leaving you with a small …show more content…
While great in theory the universal system has no foreseeable means of payment established other than raising taxes for each citizen, and the privatized system which is already in place is seen as not meeting standards and leaving behind many individuals who cannot pay for the increasing prices of healthcare. So should people be spoon feed HealthCare with a Universal System or should they be accountable for their own futures, their own HealthCare with the Privatized
